Countries report on successes, part 1
June 28, 2008 – 9:24 amLiveblogging from International Pirate Party conference
Sweden (yours truly) talked about recent developments in Sweden; how the Left party now wants a piece of the pie and aims to legalize file sharing, and how we have gotten tons of cred on the civil liberties issues.
Denmark (Ole Husgaard) talked about how they are formally registered as a party and working on getting a new website up in order to start collecting members. The previous Danish Pirate Party had socialist ambitions, so this is a fresh start which is more in line with the international community.
Germany (Jens Seipenbusch) is reporting how the German Piratenpartei has benefited from decentralizing their activism and can scale out, and the benefit of speeding up activity through it. They have started to plan for both 2009 elections — both the Europarl election and national German elections. Germany really stresses the importance of having local meetings, having people meet face to face on a regular basis.
